About the Campaign

St. Lawrence University enters The Campaign for Every Laurentian from a position of strength. We are better known now than ever before and have the most significant representation of states and countries ever in our 160-year history. Now recognized for our distinctive network of alumni, parents, and friends, the time has come for St. Lawrence to match our reputation with resources.

The Campaign for Every Laurentian is about four big ideas, developed and cultivated by Laurentians. I believe these four big ideas are essential to ensure that St. Lawrence thrives well into the future. We have experienced tremendous and unprecedented leadership support for these ideas, including the largest gift in St. Lawrence history from Sarah E. Johnson ’82, P’15 and her parents, Charles and Ann, an unrestricted gift of $25 million. A $10 million gift from Trustee Michael W. Ranger ’80, P’17 and Virginia R. Ranger P’17 created a scholarship and a professorship, and it allowed the original Herring Library to be renovated. Tom Dolan ’74 , Dolan Family Foundation’s $10 million gift will allow our vision for the Appleton Arena project to become a reality. With the addition of two other anonymous leadership gifts of $15 million and $10 million, these Laurentians have transformed our campus and the St. Lawrence student experience for the better.

The notion that everyone counts fuels our effort and inspires the name of this Campaign. It will take every Laurentian, every year, to achieve its high expectations. We will need to have continued support for the St. Lawrence Annual Fund that will match our enthusiasm for the big ideas. Through an unrestricted gift or setting up a more structured donor-designed fund, everyone can make a lasting impact.

Generations of Laurentians have experienced transformational growth during their time in the North Country. These big ideas and priorities are a blueprint that enhances a strong foundation. But, they also provide us room to innovate and deliver a 21st-century liberal arts experience and ensure that St. Lawrence will continue to be one of the finest and most sought-after universities in the country.

Our time is now, and I invite you to come with us on our journey.
